Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Dear Ladies,

to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, Ke and Sandrine warmly invite you to a special Chinese dinner evening in Heidelberg. We will be organizing this event together as a February HIP Night Out.

This evening will be a little different from our usual dinners however. In line with Chinese dining culture, we will order a variety of dishes together – vegetables, meat, fish, and other specialties – and share all dishes at the table. We will be seated at round tables with a rotating plate in the middle, which makes sharing easy and enjoyable.

Why sharing?
In Chinese culture, sharing food is closely connected to important values such as collectivism, consideration for others, and relationship-building. Eating together from shared dishes encourages exchange, trust, and connection. At the same time, it allows us to taste many different dishes instead of ordering only one for ourselves.

How payment will work:

  • The food ordered at each table will be added up and then divided equally among the ladies sitting at that table (for example, 10–12 people).
  • Drinks are paid individually.
  • The average cost for the meal (without drinks) is usually around 18–25 EUR, depending on what we order.
  • Unfortunately, the restaurant cannot split the bill in this way by card, so payment will be in cash only. Please bring enough cash to make the payment smooth and easy for everyone.

Dress code (optional):
In Chinese culture, red symbolizes luck and yellow stands for richness and prosperity. If you like, you are very welcome to include one of these colors in your outfit – it can be a dress, a top, or simply a small accessory such as a scarf or jewelry. This is completely optional and meant as a fun cultural touch.

Food preferences and dietary needs:
If you are vegetarian, have food allergies, or do not eat spicy food, please inform Sandrine or me in advance. We will make sure to find good solutions so that everyone can enjoy the dinner.

Important organizational information:

  • The event is limited to 24 participants.
  • If you have signed up but later find that you cannot attend, we kindly ask you to inform Sandrine or Ke as early as possible, so that another lady can take your place.

Warm regards,
