DESCRIPTION:We meet up the 2nd Wednesday of every month in an informal atmosphere for drinks and/or dinner. It’s held in a different venue every month to help everyone discover new places in the Heidelberg area. We also try to show-case our members’ establishments whenever possible. Hopefully this casual evening provides new members with a more intimate\, less busy moment to get to know a few regulars better as well. \nThis months HIP night out will be in the Ristorante da Claudia. Look forward to one of your Italian favourites and a drink while chatting with the HIP ladies. The restaurant can be reached by Tram 5 & 23 from Bismarckplatz. DESCRIPTION:Advancing Leadership and Self-Development for Business Women\nThe 2016 Women’s Day theme was #PledgeForParity and while it activated organizations to strive for gender equality it has become clear that the road is still a long and winding way. The Economic Forum Report predicts that the gap will only be closed in 2186. We can all agree that it is far too long to wait for gender equality. \nSo this year the official International Women’s Day theme is #BeBoldForChange.  Let us pause to reflect on: \n\nWhere are we now?\nWhat’s being done by the system?\nWhat can we as individuals do to impact this equation?\n\nTo explore this theme we will have a panel of diverse members bring you their particular angle on the subject.  From Education\, through Science\, including entrepreneurial and corporate angles\, we will take the temperature of where we’re at and interact with our audience to brain-storm out-of-the-box actions we as individuals can take to impact the trajectory. \nWe will begin with a buffet dinner and networking\, launching the Panel Discussion at 19:30. DESCRIPTION:Today\, globalization is unstoppable\, making it the norm that people from diverse cultural backgrounds work and live together on a daily base. At the same time\, we all know that trust is the foundation of long lasting and successful partnerships. But how can we build that trust when we don’t understand the covert cultural signals being sent? \nChina\, the Middle Kingdom\, opened its doors to the world more than 30 years ago and has developed into one of the largest economic centers of the world. However\, for many westerners\, this country\, its people and culture remain mysteriously hidden like something of a closed book. \nHong-Hong has been working and living in both Europe and Asia over the last decades allowing her insight into the interaction between the European and Chinese cultures.  In this presentation\, she will show us how to find the right path for building that fundamental trust so we can build a successful business relationship with Chinese and ultimately reap the fruits of international cooperation. \n3 key take-aways\n\nThere are differences between Chinese and Westerners\, none-the-less we are all human.\nChinese may be strangers\, but they are not strange! Get involved with them.\nFor the Chinese\, a trustful relationship comes from the heart\, not from the head.\n\nSpeaker\nMs. HongHong Xu was born in Beijing\, has been working and living in both China and Germany since 1988. She holds a Master of Engineering in Materials Science from Technical University Darmstadt (1995) and MBA from University Mannheim (2000). While warming our hands on our mugs\, we’ll ask each of you to share one important take-away or learning from 2016. \nOnce tucked warmly indoors in the Mediterranean-style coziness\, we’ll let our hair down and simply enjoy one another’s company.  Just fun with friends! \nOf course we’ll wind up the evening with our famous ‘White-Elephant’ exchange.  There are many stories of where this tradition came from\, but basically it’s your chance to pass onto someone else the one thing in your basement\, cupboards\, or garage that you would like to get rid of!  Funnily enough one person’s coal makes someone else’s diamonds! The HIP Carousel is an open forum to find inspiration\, ask questions\, and imagine what your future just might look like! \nThe HIP Carousel is our opportunity to share what we\, international women at work\, have achieved and how we got where we are.
