Join the HIP team and partake in a Demi-Marathon\, a 10 km run or just run\, walk\, hop\, skip or jump rounds. Each time you pass Go a sponsor contributes to the fund. We will be hanging out afterwards for our summer family event. So sign up the whole crowd – friends and neighbors welcome! \nWe as HIP women have participated right from the start of the event with ever increasing success. DESCRIPTION:Once a year we meet to celebrate International Women’s Day. This year we will be joining forces with the Heidelberg International Women’s Club – a new group for international women in Heidelberg. Expect an evening of fun and games! \nHow much do you know about the impact of women around the world? Test your knowledge\, learn some new female facts\, and have fun with your friends to celebrate International Women’s Day with the Heidelberg IWC and HIP! \nDid you know? The first woman to travel in space was Russian Valentina Tereshkova in 1963. \nThe two women’s groups are putting on their first joint event\, a trivia evening\, where groups of 6 compete to answer questions all related to women. Whether you are a trivia expert or you’ve never played before\, we invite you to join in the fun. \nDid you know? In Japan\, around A.D. 1000\, a woman published the world’s first novel\, “The Tale of Genji.” \nIn various formats\, teams will work together to answer questions in these categories: \n\nWomen in Charge\nFamous Female Firsts\nWho Sang That Song?\nI Know That Woman!\nThat’s What She Said\nFantastic Female Facts\n\nThe top 2 teams will win a prize\, but we’ll all walk away knowing a lot more about the achievements and contributions of women in our world. No previous experience in playing trivia is required. The rules of the game will be explained at the start of the evening. \nDid you know? “Wonder Woman” (2017) was the first superhero film starring a female lead to be directed by a woman. \nAs part of our Trivia Event\, we’ll offer finger foods and a variety of beverages throughout the evening. \nRegistration\nRegistration can be done on the HIWC website. \nThe entry fee is €10\, payable on the evening of the event. You can join as a team with your friends or you can sign up as an individual and we’ll gather a team for you. If you only have a partial team (not the full 6) that’s great! DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand\, we’ll be spending the evening on May 17th sharing and discussing topics using TED Talks which we will listen to together.  Each talk will be followed by a moderated discussion giving you a chance to speak your mind while honing your debating skills. \nThe last time we did this the discussion was lively and stimulating ideas were exchanged.  It is eye-opening to hear other perspectives on a subject which is important to everyone. We are sponsored in part by the City of Heidelberg. \nIt is a full day event combining a trade fair for our entrepreneurs\, a conference on topics of interest to all career women\, and a huge networking event for our members to connect\, share and learn. \nWe need your help to make this event a success. Being a part of the team is a great opportunity for you to become involved in a stellar HIP project while getting to know our members much better by collaborating side by side. \nOur Agenda for May 3rd: \n\nFirst we’ll run through the Carousel’s revised program and share new options\nBuilding the central team – we’ll be looking for all kinds of talent – organizational skills\, communication skills\, decoration and management.  I’m sure you have strengths that we can put to good use! DESCRIPTION:This is our day! HIP is growing\, and with our increase in membership\, we are expanding our diversity. What better place than our own community to discover the world. \nSo let’s use our combined knowledge to help each of us develop our intercultural expertise!  Here is the clever plan: \nEach of us will: \n\n   Come with a dish to pass from our national cuisine.\n   Come dressed in your national costume or a ‘typical outfit’\n   Come with a proverb from your country which reveals the essence of your culture\n   Come with 3 essential ‘do’s or taboos’ that someone should know before traveling or working in your country.\n\nEveryone will have about 2 minutes to present their country to the group. If you’d like to bring an A4 sheet with an image or map or information of any sort\, feel free to do so and we will build a collage with those papers and some Polaroid pictures taken during the event. Feel free to bring CD’s of your country’s music as well!! \nRecently there has been a great deal of controversy around the theme of women and equality.  The International Women’s Day theme is #PressforProgress. \nWe at HIP have decided to start the year on a positive note by celebrating the richness our diversity brings to our organization\, to each other\, and to the world.  Let’s charge up our batteries together by recognizing the depth and breadth of our own community while hopefully inspiring openness and understanding towards all that makes us different. \nBring a dish from your national culture\, drinks will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Advancing Leadership and Self-Development for Business Women\nThe 2016 Women’s Day theme was #PledgeForParity and while it activated organizations to strive for gender equality it has become clear that the road is still a long and winding way. The Economic Forum Report predicts that the gap will only be closed in 2186. We can all agree that it is far too long to wait for gender equality. \nSo this year the official International Women’s Day theme is #BeBoldForChange.  Let us pause to reflect on: \n\nWhere are we now?\nWhat’s being done by the system?\nWhat can we as individuals do to impact this equation?\n\nTo explore this theme we will have a panel of diverse members bring you their particular angle on the subject.  From Education\, through Science\, including entrepreneurial and corporate angles\, we will take the temperature of where we’re at and interact with our audience to brain-storm out-of-the-box actions we as individuals can take to impact the trajectory. \nWe will begin with a buffet dinner and networking\, launching the Panel Discussion at 19:30. The program will combine: \n\nAn Exhibition of international women presenting the businesses we have created.\nSuccessful women discussing their experiences\, which obstacles they have met and how they finally overcame them.\nPresentations in small groups and podium discussions on topics pertinent to women in business\n\nWe want to show what our members have achieved with the hope that our experiences can encourage others to stretch their wings.
